Applied and declined myself. Got declined for "Too many accounts with high balances". The only thing reporting a balance on my cr is my mortgage and my car payment. I have 9 credit card accounts all reporting zero owed.

I should have just applied for Amex, but figured getting a visa would be accepted more places. Then again it is Chase which sucks to begin with.

have you tried recon yet? they have a underwriting department just for ink.

No I haven't. What is the number for the recon with ink? I've seen it mentioned but no number for this particular department was ever given.

Re: Applied for Chase Ink

there is a number that's on the decline letter, ask to speak to an underwriter from there... they kind of confused me because the lady that answered started asking me questions and talking about the decline and I thought she was the underwriter but she wasn't but she can transfer you to them... just make sure someone tells you thats there title before you get to detailed or your just wasting your time with someone with no power

Re: Applied for Chase Ink

Called the number and spoke with a woman who was very rude. Made me answer all these questions and offered me a card with a limit that was beyond ridiculously low. Credit line was less than what I have with them on my personal cards. I told her to shove it.

I did get an answer as to my high credit balances. She said at the time when they pulled my report I had some credit cards reporting that totaled a whopping $300.00 and they considered that high usage.

IMO after speaking with them they have no intention of issuing these cards and it is all for show in saying they are trying to extend credit to small businesses.

eh.  sounds like funny accounting.  having worked in companies big and small that engaged in creative bookkeeping for the press (when negative stuff was coming down, to make the problem 'disappear') and shareholders (to make the company look healthier than it actually was)....... I wouldn't put it past them.

And FLDean, you may be right.  Then again you were able to get a recon, even if it was for a ridiculously low amount for your company.  Were you under the magic 'three inquiries' cut off point for automatic live underwriter declines?
