As I exit the garden, I decided to add my first AMEX business card. I'm seriously considering closure of my AMEX Gold personal card after two years unless there is a sweet retention offer. While I like the Gold card, the fee/credits situation just doesn't add up for me. However, I have a pot of unused MRs that I need to keep, so adding an MR-earning card was a wise idea. The Everyday/Everyday Preferred cards didn't appeal and I liked the idea of not only a soft pull but a card that won't show on my personal reports as a new account. And if I were to keep the Gold, the BBP is an excellent companion earning 2x MRs up to $50K with no AF. (Honestly, they need a personal card like this anyway!)
Like with my Chase INK card, I applied using a minor "sole proprietorship" side-gig which only is a very small part of my household income. Chase had approved me for $9K so I hoped for at something in that ballpark. AMEX approved me for a similar $10K SL.
Not bad. Plus, with the $75K they had approved on my personal Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant, that still puts me at $85K total exposure with them on just two cards, or $103K if you count the $18K on my Gold Pay-over-Time.
The SUB is the standard 15K MRs* for spending $3K in three months.
(150K MRs corrected thanks to wasCB14's acute proofreading) ![]()
I have a few other cards in my sights after going 0/24 for new inquiries but this one was most urgent due to protecting the MRs.
Thanks to the community for the data points on AMEX and business credit to help me along the way!

Great start out the gate @Aim_High WooHoo!! Congratulations on your AMEX Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂
Enjoy the card.. Got out of the MR game to much of a headache for me personally and use this Business cash card at 2% a ton now use to have BBP card which is a good card if value MR's. Grats on your approval. Can't bring myself to getting and of the AF business cards even with MR offers as did the whole collection a few times with personal and ended up getting bad value how I used them aka cash out without schwab or similiar.

Congratulations
It's a good card.

@Aim_High - Congrats on your approval! 👍
Congrats on the solid approval!! Not to get off business focus, but I agree on your personal card perspective. CM should be a general 2% CB, and MR option introduced.

Thanks @cashorcharge and @CreditCuriosity! Yes, I know MRs can be quite valuable but it all depends on how you redeem. Their redemption rate tends to vary much more widely than Chase URs, so I think long-term I'll be sticking with them. Meanwhile, between my SUB and spending, I don't want to waste the points I've accrued. Cash back (even with Schwab) seems a poor value compared to other options. They offer transfer promotions regularly (a bunch going on now) and bonuses up to about 25% over regular rates.

Thanks very much @SouthJamaica, @Stealth-1, and @blindambition! ![]()
By the way, I checked into MR point transfer (Gold to BBP) and don't see where that is an option. Is that just since I don't have any points on the BBP yet and will it show up later? With Chase, moving URs is very easy in the portal between card accounts. I hope I wasn't mistaken about being able to transfer or pool URs between MR personal and business cards or I may have just wasted my time.

I recently closed my AMEX Platinum and Plum business cards and afterwards the accumulated MR points from them were available to use on the dashboard of 2 of my 4 personal AMEX credit cards (Everyday and Blue) – the BCP and BCE weren’t eligible. If the Gold is eligible for transferring MR points (not sure why it wouldn't), there might be a slight delay for them to show up on your BBP dashboard. Or it's possible the Gold card has to be closed first to make the MR points transferable. I would ask them to make sure. I found that using the site chat feature is usually quicker than calling and holding. Explain the situation and usually the rep can quickly resolve it. If possible, ask for an AMEX case #, in case you need to follow up again. 👍
Congratulations on your approval and nice starting limit!
