I don't currently have any Chase cards, bank accounts, etc. I'm getting "You've been preselected" mailings for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Ink Business Unlimited cards. I haven't gotten any offers for the Ink Business Preferred. Does the fact that I'm getting mailings for other Chase cards but not for the Ink Preferred mean that I'm unlikely to get the Preferred if I apply for it?
I have a 740 Experian, but a fairly thin credit file. I do have a legit 9-year-old business with an LLC, an EIN, and good revenue. It has good credit, but also fairly thin with the credit history only going back a year or two.
Personal credit:
740 Experian.
Discover IT - Opened 1 year, 9 months ago (first ever credit card). CL: $4,000
AmEx BCE - Opened 8 months ago. CL: $7,500
Inquiries: 1 inquiry 8 months ago (when I applied for the AmEx BCE card above)
(no other history on credit report - no loans, etc.)
(no negatives)
Business credit (under the same LLC I want for the Chase Business Preferred)
AmEx BBC - Opened 8 months ago. CL: $15,000
Net 30 accounts with various vendors going back 2 years or so.
(no negatives)
The next card I need is definitely the Ink Business Preferred because my business spends a lot on shipping and advertising.
What are my approval odds? Should I take a shot now, or wait a bit longer to build more credit history? I'd really like the card now, but don't want to waste a hard pull and set myself back.

You might be on the bubble with your file being on the thin side and considering the minimum SL for the Preferred being $5k. They'll likely double pull your personal credit as well as your Experian business report and possibly your SBSS scores. If you get a denial, I'd contact their reconsideration line.

Thanks. When you say they'll likely double pull my personal credit, does that just mean that they may hard pull from two different bureaus? If so, does that show up as 2 hard pulls that stay on my credit report for the next 12 months?
Yes... its common for them to pull EX and TU personal. That will be two HPs that are are on record for 2 years, but they're no longer scored on Fico after 12 months.
@Ack226 they pulled EX, and TU for me in FL. I've also had a business account with them since 2022. I'm not a huge business just a small 1 man band. My SL was 5k opened in 1-2025 and just received my first CLI of 3K to bring me up to 8k TCL now. And yes the hard pulls will show up on your personal CB. Hope that helps.
I had somewhere around that credit score when I picked up mine. My highest personal CL was maybe 25k at the time, the Ink P started with a 55k limit. I did use Chase for my biz checking though, so they probably threw the revenue into some calculation for that.

I'm due to request a CLI for my personal Amex BCE card and will probably get it. Will I have a significantly better chance of approval for the new Chase business card if I get the CLI from Amex and wait for it to appear on credit reports before I apply for the Chase card? If yes, I'll wait. If not, then I'll pull the trigger now!
The current CLI on my Amex is $7500. Based on my research, there's a good chance they'll 3x it, although I may only request to increase to 20k so that I stay under $35k total between both of my Amex cards.
Ask for what you'll use, Amex is generous. I'm 41.5K with them.
