A while back I reported being approved for the CIC with a $5,000 CL. I was over 5/24 and applied via BRM. I've been carrying a balance leveraging my 0% Intro APR, about $4,600/$5,000. Today, I was notified by Chase that I was auto increased to $11,500. Not a bad holiday present, although I prefer to keep my limits low with Chase since they tend to cap you at 50% of your CLI, YMMV.

Congratulations on the whopping CLI.
But I guess you can't safely use it while the promotional balance is out there. You might lose the grace period for purchases.

Thanks! What are you talking about? The limit was automatic and able to be used right away. I have no intention of spending up to the new limit. I won't lose the grace period if I use up to the new CL.

OK if you say so.

Congrats on the auto CLI. That is a whopper!

Starting Score: 469I don't think you understand how this works. Per my terms and conditions, the consumer keeps the intro APR period by just making the minimum payment on time each month. Otherwise, the default APR will take effect.
The grace period is a minimum of 20 days after the statement end date. Interest is not charged on new purchases if you pay the entire balance by the due date each month. Makes sense? It's not contingent on exceeding the new CLI. I hope this makes sense. It's often misunderstood when folks don't read or even understand their T&C.

@SouthJamaica, I'm curious what this means as well...Are you saying that OP should double check to see what the interest rate would be if balance goes over $5K?

Sometimes there's fine print that if you make purchases while the promo balance transfer is still out there, the new purchases are not going to have the normal grace period but will start incurring interest immediately. I have no idea whether that's the case here. But if it were me I would be studying the fine print before doing anything with the new limit.

I took OP's comment completely differently. I took it as purchases made of $4,600 and carrying those balances.

That's what I thought as well.
