I recently joined a non-profit as CFO. There's a longstanding Costco Executive membership, and I replaced my predecessor as the primary member back in March. My predecessor also had a Costco Business Citi card that was cancelled when he was removed from the Costco account. All good so far.
It'd be beneficial for the organization if I had a Costco Business card on this membership, like my predecessor. The problem is that Citi wants to do a HP on me, and they say a Citi Visa TL for the account will be reported to the CRAs under my name. I don't want either of those to happen but absolutely not the latter.
The in-store Costco service team says that the Citi applications team has the ability to leave me out of this personally if I speak to the right department. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time being punted from one Citi team to another and still keep running into the wall with the HP and eventual TL on this. (Also, I'm working an occasional gig for a different non-profit and this is potentially an issue with their Costco account. I don't want multiple Citi TLs reporting on my personal credit, presuming they'd even approve me for multiple Costco Business Visas for different organizations, which is a whole different issue.)
I previously worked for a different non-profit and had the exact same Costco Business Citi card in my name and it never appeared on any of my credit reports. However, that account had been opened many years ago (and closed in 2019) so possibly Citi's Costco program parameters have changed since then.
TL;DR Can anyone confirm for a recent (within the last 24 months or so) Costco Anywhere Business Citi Visa account opened under an employer's membership account, whether this account appears on their personal credit?
Thanks!
Citi Business Credit Card Accounts do NOT report on the personal credit of the card holder. I would venture to guess if you DEFAULT, then your personal credit would be hit. Expect a personal EQ HP during the application but if you apply for a business card in the non-profit name and you are the PG on the account, it will not hit your personal CB
I opened a biz account in Jan. I was hp to open the account. I put my hubby and son on the account. No hp for them. I havent checked for a sp. None of the accounts show up on any of our personal accounts. Unless you are the owner of the account, it wont hp you.
Hard pull with what credit bureau?
