Is it possible to request lower APR on AMEX Business Cards?

Was curious is this is something that could be requested?

I have a balance on Amex BBC that is going to be on there for a while thanks to DD
and I wanted to see if I could request a lower APR in the interim.

Thanks in advance.

I can say that I don't recall seeing that request made or to that point, someone providing feedback on a successful request.  I'd be curious if you ask them....I didn't see a way to do it online...perhaps by calling?

Additionally, I would be curious if an ordinary CSR could handle this or if it would be wiser to pose the question to an Account Retention Expert/Representative.

That team specifically, can be reached at:  800-452-3945 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 11 p.m

Re: Is it possible to request lower APR on AMEX Business Cards?

You may apply for a new other Amex biz card that you had not applied before. They typically come with 0% APR in the first year.

Keep us updated on successes to reduce APR on your existing card.

Re: Is it possible to request lower APR on AMEX Business Cards?

So I gave it a go, and the short answer is no, well sorta no.

The long answer when I requested if I could lower my APR on my AMEX BBC (which is currently 22.49%) the reply was the following:

"...We periodically review APRs for all our Card Members and we aim to provide you the most up-to-date terms for your Card product. I understand your concerns, especially when you have taken great care in managing your account.
Let me assure you that I tried and currently the account is at best eligible APR. We will get in touch with you as soon as the lower APR Offer is available for you..."

Like I said, "no" Smiley Very Happy

Well, I gave it a whirl, I wasn't expecting much.

Re: Is it possible to request lower APR on AMEX Business Cards?

I was also not expecting such an offer for an existing biz account, since more transactions are expected from businesses vs the personal accounts. So, why not applying for a brand new biz CC at Amex or somewhere else to get 0% APR for the first year?

I opened a new card to get the intro 0% offer...that's my new house project plan annually, haha.

Yes it's possible. Sometimes they say yes. Sometimes they say no.

@Wavester64  Just a thought. What about opening a Biz Platinum card and transfer the balance?

The Elan Business Platinum card has a great promo: 0% APR purchases and balance transfers for 18 billing cycles, 3% BT fee. (Note after the promo is complete yuu can always PC the card to a rewards card. New accounts must be open a min of 1 year to product change.)

I opened a personal checking account before applying in order to dump my rewards credits. It was convenient because you could open the account online. I would assume you could waive off the deposit account and just apply for the card and have rewards redeemend as statement credit. These are two applications I had bookmarked that don't require online banking login.

Provident Bank, NJ  [MC]

Banc of California [Visa]

Greater nevada credit union [MC]

I used Kearny Bank, NJ which offers the Visa. I just noticed you now have to login to link to the credit card application. I'm sure with a bit of research you could find Visa verisons that don't require a login.

Also here's an older forum thread discussion.

Hope this proves useful.
