Sam's Club Business Credit (Approved)

I'm curious if anyone knows how they determine if you get the store vs. the mastercard

so i was approved in like 10 secs when i applied in the store yesterday and the kid said you were approved for $8k so i automatically thought that CL meant i would get the mastercard... well until i looked at the lil slip of receipt paper he handed me

approval slip

if im not mistaken, ppl have gotten the mastercard but gotten like a smaller CL of like $5k or whatever

i'm not complaining but of course i would have preferred the MC

as far as data points, i know

DnB shows 5 "payment experiences" dont know if this is up to date, but i checked the free credit signal recently

Experian as of last month only has 3 TL (Uline that has never reported payment info just shows the TL, Sunoco x/$1k, Amazon NET55 x/$5k)

2 yr inc,  vendors used before  uline/quill/global/aramark/vistaprint

addt'l revolving  Dell $5k (used $2.1k before and paid off)

Congratulations on the approval.  Assuming you applied without a PG and the approval was based on your business credit only, it all comes down to the Biz credit profile.  However many people's experiences are documented on this forum, and for many myself included are approved for the MC a few months after getting the store card, but applying again in the store.  I got store card, then a couple CLI's on the store card over 6 months, then app'd again, received MC with 10k SL, then requested CLI 3 months later, received 5k CLI.

So use the store card for 3-4 months, return to the club and apply again, and most likely you'll receive the MC.

Re: Sam's Club Business Credit (Approved)

🤔  ok, this may actually work out better then if they let you have both cards

no pg just ein and duns number

the thing is, i havent had a sams membership in ~5 years

about 3 weeks or so ago i decided to sign up online for the $45 membership and get a $45 giftcard deal

i just got around to going to sams yesterday so i got my giftcard and did the biz app at the same time

think they are also doing a statement credit also on new accounts...

so yeah , i'll check back with sams in some months with more payment history on my reports... hopefully the no pg mastercard still exists then and i can get that too 😅

Yes, you can definitely have both store and MC at the same time.  I never used the MC and requested a CLI after the 3rd billing cycle, and received the 5k I asked for, even if you don't use the store card much, you should still have a good shot at the MC with just the account reporting.

Best of luck, keep us updated.

Re: Sam's Club Business Credit (Approved)

I decided to go down to Sam's Club today and drop off my paper application (No PG) for their credit card. They had a hard time entering it into the system but called a manager and she finally got it to go. As she was talking to me, a slip printed out and she was handing it to me, so at first I thought I was getting denied and told to call an 800 number. It said that I was approved for $8000 and so I upgraded my membership to Plus and bought a few things before I left. I was thinking the whole way home tonight that I got approved for the MasterCard but I'm wondering now if I just got approved for the store card. That will suck! But if it does happen, I'll go back down and 3-4 months and apply again for the MasterCard.

All in all, I consider it a good win.  I've been in business since 2009 and have between 6-8 credit lines reporting to Dun & Bradstreet and Experian business. I'm not sure which credit bureaus and reports to, if any. Hopefully it will report to most of them if not all.

Re: Sam's Club Business Credit (Approved)

Congrats on your Sam's Club Business Credit card approval. My goal is to get my small business established with credit lines reporting to Dun & Bradstreet and Experian business . . . trying to identify the easiest business credit card to obtain as I really don't want a lot of PG inquiries. Thanks for posting . . . helpful information, I have a Sam's Club Business membership and would love to have a business card!!!

Re: Sam's Club Business Credit (Approved)

update.

so went ahead and tried for the MC the week of Thanksgiving. got approved for $8k and just received card yesterday.

so now got the $8k store + $8k mastercard. haven't tried for CLIs yet, I think if I woulda had already CLId the store card the MC might have been matched to the higher line. no worries though, feels good that I only had to apply once for each card

also went ahead last week and app'd for the phillips-conoco and got inst appr for $3500
