Should I or shouldn’t apply for US Bank card

hello everyone, im confused on the timing on applying for a us bank cc, coz my reports showing up 4 cards opened in last 12 months but in 2 days 2 of those 4 cards would fall out of 12 months period as they were approved April 21 and 22 of 2021. I initially decided to wait until next month but since Im recently approved for 3 cards to which i received pre-approved offer...I very badly wanted US bank business card and if any of those recently approved 2 cards be reported to my reports then I would need to wait at least 12 months...my only chance is applying with us bank as earlier as 23rd of this months subject to none of those approved cards show up...do u think i will be ok to apply on 23rd (2 days later from now on) when I will be 2 cards approved in 12 months? Dont u think it would be so quick of falling of those other two cards out of 12 months window? Thankyou

Hi @Janneman and welcome to the forums.

Are you looking to apply for a US Bank personal card or business card...or both?

Re: Should I or shouldn’t apply for US Bank card

I do not know the rules for US Bank business cards. For their personal cards, the conventional wisdom is that you should be 0/12 - that is, zero new cards opened for the past 12 months - or at most 1/12 when you apply.

From my personal experience, I can say that I was 0/12 when I got my core US Bank card. Immediately after, I got an Elan card (US Bank alternate brand often used for cobrand cards) at 1/12, and soon after, I got a US Bank Harley-Davidson card at 2/12, albeit at a low limit.

Despite prequalification on third-party sites, I would suggest waiting until you are 1/12 or better yet, 0/12, for best odds of success, for a US Bank personal card. Again, I do not know the rules about US Bank business cards. Good luck!

FICO Resilience Index: 64. Cards: 5/24, 2/12, 2/6. Accounts including loans: 8/24, 4/12, 3/6. Card CLs total $213,900, or $240,400 including the AU card. Cards (oldest to newest)

US Bank is sensitive to new inquiries and accounts. Probably better to wait.

Re: Should I or shouldn’t apply for US Bank card

US Bank recently approved me for the Altitude Reserve with me having 4 new accounts in the last 12 months. It was my first CC with them. However I had applied in Oct at 6/12 and was denied. I was told then they wanted 6 months with no new accounts.

I have had a large car loan with them for over 3 years so that might have helped.

Hi Janneman, I did answer your email, I would wate a couple of months before I went head and apply for a credit card with US bank. They can be touchy but I had good rellationship with US bank , I always speak to customer service when requesting increases I now have 45K with 2 cards will go head next month and request  my last increase. You can always recon with US bank but remember recons are hard pulls with US bank.

Re: Should I or shouldn’t apply for US Bank card

Update:

I just got approved for US Triple Rewards Signature Business card but cl is very small- $3k. This is my first cc with US bank, and I have no any relationship with this bank except a self serving investment account which I opened just 10 days ago online and deposited only $100 in it. When I initially posted questions on here, I had 2/12 showing up on my reports, but when they pulled report on me yesterday I have had 4/12. So I am shocked despite of being not happy with cl but at least im@ their door. Hope it will grow quicker...how that would be  then I dont know. Thankyou
