Im in middle phases of my business development, but close enough that I need to start looking for a local bank for a biz checking, (my current local bank is kinda of "old school", so looking into the "bigger banks"....USB, BOFA, etc)... Ive done a little research on USB, and their "Silver" checking package would be ideal for me. Anyone have experience with USB on the BIZ side? Thoughts appreciated on any Banks...
Needing a BIZ phone number....I currently have Verizon for personal, and have for like 12 yrs. Can I add a "business" 2nd line to my current number without having to get another phone, or should I get another phone/number in order to continue to keep things separate... personal vs business? Thoughts on Verizon or anyone other company for a BIZ phone/line.
Im looking into mobile payment acceptance. Thats more ideal for me than the stand alone brick & mortar register. A few of my friends that have businesses have Paypal, and a few others use Square to accept CC's. They also have a like 2.75% per transaction fee, which I believe is standand? Anyone have experience with either of those two payment systems, or have experience with any others??
Thank you for all suggestions!! ![]()
Once you form yourself as a company with EIN you can actually move your verizon to a business account... not only then can you still purchase phones on contract instead of lease but you can get "One Talk" which is basically business phone/desk phone options but you can have it all forwarded to the app on your current cell. I answer our manager line through my cell phone and the app pops up when I'm getting a call from it.
I'm really liking Square and as long as you use the chip reader it's 2.75%, 3.75% if you just manual enter the card number.
Other nice thing for you might be the ability to invoice.
but I think paypal can do both of these things too so...

Thatnks CA!!
Working on AOO (LLC)/EIN now, so once I get official approval for it from the state, then I'll be in a better position to go do things like phone, accts, etc... Looking into TM as well,
I mean I'm so particular that its taken me forever just to decide on name/logo, (which you know first hand , lol). Things are coming along though....
For biz phone, I used to have a business line with T-Mobile and eventually just decided to get Google Voice and use that with my normal cell. I don’t get enough calls to justified paying for an extra line. I do meetings but mostly using Google Hangouts or Skype so no need for a separate line either. If you do need it, the cell company will ask for SS number if you’re a sole proprietor or EIN, and also your biz name. That was pretty much it.
For biz bank, I used BOA for 9 years and last year I decided to explore what else was there and switch to Spark from Capital One. I like it and there are no fees. But, I also want to try NFCU biz side since I have a local branch.
I use PayPal for processing payments. I’ve also try merchant accounts, Venmo, and Stripe but PayPal is the one that my client’s like most so that’s what I used.
This setup works well for me. My business is service-based, so I don’t need a lot to run it, and I try to keep costs low.
I write about this topic daily (and for ten years) so if you need any help or recommendations feel free to send me message.
I love helping with this stuff. ![]()

Let others more educated that myself answer that although I never had a business number and hasn't hurt my business credit I do have an EIN but only used that for Net 55 Amazon etc and for filing purposes when I was doing consulting. Google voice just allows you to have various #'s on one phone with out paying and you can dial out form whatever # you choose or if they are dialing into you you can tell what number it is coming into, etc if I recall right. Have google voice installed for other reasons than business, been awhile since I used it.

One of the main reasons I want the Navy biz side is they report their Biz cards to Exp business
Do you have a source for this statement?
Is anyone seeing them report on Experian (or anywhere else for that matter)?
