I applied for the aforementioned card this morning, on phone. The representative asked me to check my status online or by calling up some number. I checked online and received the following message: "Currently we are unable to offer you a credit card issued by Barclays Bank Delaware. Details on why we could not make you a credit offer will be mailed to you. ". I have a steady source of income. Before I started working (1.5 years), I applied for 2 BofA credit cards and got rejected for both. After I started working, I applied for a basic capital one rewards card (15 months ago). I started off with a $500 credit line, which got automatically increased to $750 after 6 months. I have never made a late payment, always made a payment in full. I get pre-qual offers from some Amex, Discover and citi cards. Can someone tell me where am I going wrong? I would also like to know about recon. Let me know if you need any other information. Thanks.
Definitely try and recon. You already took the hp.

Basically, it appears (from what info you have posted) that you have applied for a premium card offering with very little credit history. An approval World MC (in most cases) usually requires some experience with CL's in the 5k territory. You have a short history (1.5 years) based on what you have posted, and no experience (Again, based on what you have posted) with higher credit limits. Do you know what your TU Fico score is? They pull TU in most cases. How about your Average age of Accounts? Also, what (if any) other accounts do you have, and is there anything bad on your report? Knowing this info will help you in the future as you apply. You can always call them to ask for a reconsideration of the app, maybe if they can't give you this card, they can give you something else.
From their Terms and Conditions for this card:
Offer subject to credit approval. Benefits will vary depending upon the card for which you are approved. Not everyone will qualify for the World MasterCard credit card and its benefits. If at the time of your application you do not meet the credit criteria previously established for this offer, or the income you report is insufficient based on your obligations, we may not be able to open an account for you or you may receive a Platinum card which has fewer benefits.
Good luck with the Re-con. !

But how do they expect me to have an experience with a higher end card if they're not ready to give me one? That's the reason I went for a basic card initially to build my credit history. Do you know what your TU Fico score is? They pull TU in most cases. Can I get a free score from somewhere? How about your Average age of Accounts? Also, what (if any) other accounts do you have, and is there anything bad on your report? I got a report a couple of months back and my account was in good standing. There was nothing bad. Knowing this info will help you in the future as you apply. You can always call them to ask for a reconsideration of the app, maybe if they can't give you this card, they can give you something else. I'll definitely try it. I have already been rejected, I don't have anything to lose.

Thanks a lot for your responses. I have put my responses inline. I really appreciate all the help. I am planning to call them later tonight and I'll keep you guys posted. Any other suggestions are most welcome.
You can sign up for a free account at Credit Karma to get a idea of where you stand, and what is on your report. However, this is what is commonly referred to as a FAKO score (not a real FICO) and may (or may not) be close to your real score. Otherwise, you can try to find a discount code online to get a TU Fico score directly from My Fico.
When you call in, they may be able to tell you your score (other than that, it should be on your denial letter).
On a side note, I would think you would be more likely to be approved for a Discover Card, Chase Freedom, or AMEX Green card with your short-ish history. If you are looking for a card with a higher limit, you will probably need to get a card with a CL that will grow with you (giving regular CLI's) until you get into the 5k range. Capital One is kind of notorious on these boards for not giving many CLI's.

The reason I applied for this one is because I wanted to get a card which will give me good travel rewards and I found the Barclaycard Arrival very appealing.

Yes, I think you should try the analyst backdoor number - 866-408-4064 - to recon, especially since you've already taken the inquiry.
IME, they really do try to work with you and, for the most part, I've had some good success with it myself a couple of times, including getting an approval for the Arrival.
It sounds like you may have some good few points to bring up. Good luck to you and keep us updated!
When I call this number, should I just say my application was rejected and I want it to be reconsidered?

Yes. Tell them that you want to discuss why it was denied, and see if they will reconsider.
