I've been working on rebuilding my credit for a bit more than a year. This past January I was comfortable with starting to apply for things. We've been trying to get a mortgage, but kept running into hiccups.
A couple weeks ago, I got tired of waiting for mortgages and the sort preventing me from pushing forward on my plans, and I went into my bank, Wings Financial, to get three things: A personal loan for $10,000, a line of credit, and a credit card.
I was approved for all 3, and they only pulled my credit once.
Personal Loan: $4,000
Line of Credit: $300
Visa: $500

Congrats! Nice addition to your credit profile. Your credit will take a hit with 3 new accounts, but at least you avoided multiple HPs.
Congratulations! For your approvals! Continue Success in The World of Credit Cards!

Yup, my AAoA will take a dive, but it's the positive payment history, total number of accounts, and variety of accounts I'm after. And I'm shooting for a refinance in 5 years, provided we can get a mortgage in the first place.
