AMEX 50k prg is stll alive....

Anyone here that travels, or at least would like to travel/staycation in the next 12 months.... I would suggest this:  If not in with Amex and have scores about 660, ideally above 675 or higher, frequent their prequal site. Had just another friend get a 25k MR point offer in the mail after repeat browsing the Everyday card.

So with one credit inquiry, you could double app, ED, and PRG, net 75000 points for only $3k spend in 90 days (or up to 65k after 2k spend)... These points are great for flight upgrades too (although I have no experience in using for upgrade).

They say MR points on average, for travelers, are worth 2 cents per point.... So you do the math.  abt $1300-1500 in free travel/upgrades....

For anyone flying, gotta research Skip Gating. AKA Throw away travel. Not good for frequent flyers as you can get banned from your mile program. But a great way to get cheap prices.  Have seen NYC or Chicago to Paris then to Helsinki for $493. Just ditch the last leg, and you have a $1200 flight for $493.  Use a few points for seat upgrade, and voila.

Edited to add: I haven't been active here in quite some time, but if my memory is correct... Typically AMEX decideds not to honor the MR points minimum spend reward only when you have already had the specific card previously for which you are trying to get the bonus. Is this accurate?

You'll get the bonus.    Only if you have had the PRG before would you not get it. Once in a lifetime bonus per card.

Nice, well I will have to decide if I am willing to enlist a HP...

I hadn't been on here in quite some time, I was just busy with work for a while, then traveling with the old lady and I bought a sailboat which is very easy to spend time on down here in the keys! I will be back on here periodically now, I missed knowing what was going on in the revolving credit world. Although, I find it easier to avoid app'ing when I don't read all the new trends on myFICO!

Sailboat sounds great. I would be on it all the time down there as well.  Seriously consider the PRG deal if you use MR points at all.  Even though they raised the AF, it has much better benefits now and 50K for $1K spend is as good as it's ever going to be.

Thanks man. I use my MR points all the time, having an AMEX for my business makes them add up quite quickly. I'm not so patiently waiting for them to run a MR Points transfer to American Airlines at any rate better than 1:1 and I will run out of the garden for the 50K PRG deal.
