AMEX BCE CLI.....no go

So I recently submitted a CLI for my AMEX BCE card and was declined. I received the letter today from AMEX and the reason it states is because of my BK7 that still on my report from Oct 2010. Spoke to agent and he stated no CLI are available for you until the BK7 falls off your report. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just me?

Re: AMEX BCE CLI.....no go

Sorry to hear about that denial chucky1234. It's actually been reported here in the myFICO community plenty of times that Amex and even citi DO NOT grant CLIs whenever there's BK reporting. But at least it didn't cost you a hp. 2020 isn't that far of a wait. For me, 2021 is when I hope they'll take me off their blacklist Smiley Sad

Re: AMEX BCE CLI.....no go

Well that stinks...It doesnt make any sense was approved for the BCE card for $5k on Jan 2017 and once I received the card hit the CLI button for $10k and was instantly approved and BK7 was on my report.

Re: AMEX BCE CLI.....no go

Like everything else, i think it depends on the person's file (to include the ch7).  When i first got my BCE, Hilton & Delta, there were at $5k.  The CL was decreased to $1k a month or so after, and since then, no go on CLIs (this was in 2015) online or with the phone. AMEX was not included in ch7.

Bk falls in 10/2010, all i can do now is wait :-)

Re: AMEX BCE CLI.....no go

They gave you a nice sl in Jan and then gave you an almost 2x increase to 10k so obviously they are giving you cli with the bk on your report. I would look at it like perhaps you are at your internal limit. Try again in a couple of months, perhaps with some more usage and history theyll give you moreSmiley Happy

Re: AMEX BCE CLI.....no go

Just try again after OCT 2017 when the BK is removed from your

Credit File.  You'll get it for sure then!!! Smiley Happy

Re: AMEX BCE CLI.....no go

I've experienced the same thing. I applied for another card and received a higher SL with it. Luckily, my BK falls off next Spring so I'm not worried about it.

Have you ever thought about asking for an early removal on the BK?

If the discharged date was 10/2010 (as mine was), an early removal will not happen this soon.  I know some here got it removed early, but that was (from what i've read here) three to four months from falling off date.  If anything, she can try on June/2019
