So I went to apply for the AMEX to see if I was banned and got the message below. What are peoples thoughts? Banned or not banned? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
We'll process your application as soon as possible and send you a decision within 14 days.

Not really enough info, has Amex shut you down in the past? What's your report like?

No. I use to have them. I went through a divorce and had problems, and owed them $1,700. Now I'm back on my feet with good credit and a score of 750. I wasn't sure if I was banned, also read that I would get immediatly denied if I was on the blacklist.
If you pay them off you have a better chance of getting back in with Amex, it took me 10 years to get back in I've seen where it took some 30 years and some are past the 30 year mark and still banned.

Doesn't matter if your score was 850, if you owe AmEx money, esp within the last few years then Yes chances are very great that you're Blacklisted and also great that unless you pay them you'll remain on their BL for some time. I didn't even owe them money and was on it for 19 years before being approved with them again

If you didn't incur a HP and were denied that would be your indicator that you are blacklisted, but as others have stated, the letter / email you receive with reasons should reference it.
Agreed. Amex has a long memory... So long in fact that when they let you back in, they'll act like you've been with them since your original account opening.

This is very true. My first AmEx card was Green in 1984. They closed my accounts in 2002 and Blacklisted me. They finally let me back in in 2021 (although in all fairness because of life and my then scores I had not tried to get in for several years prior to that so some of that 19 years could have well been on me). Now all 6 of my new AmEx cards that were issued in 2021 and 2022 have "Member Since 1984" on them and anytime I've ever had to call since 2021 they always end the call with, "Thank you Mr. XXXXXX for being a valued American Express Member since 1984".
You may have to wait and see once they send you the "We've finished reviewing your application" email. They will state why you have been denied or if you were approved. If it states cause of past account issues with them then yes, you are more than likely still blacklisted. If not, there may be other factors on the report that makes them not be 100% it time to extend credit again.
Have you tried this link to see if the approval / denial is already on there?

Honestly I think you may NOT be blacklisted as the denial wasn't right away. Or maybe its just that I am rooting for you.

Thanks i appreciate the root. Yeah i find it odd that i wasn't denied right away like what other blacklisters have said on the forum. I have high hopes, cause when I applied for NFCU Flagship card i wasn't denied and said they will take a look at the application, and got a call then next day to verify a few things of identification then a few hours approved with a great limit. So fingers crossed.
