AMEX CLI Request Triggered Expected 4506-T The waiting game begins!

Just hit my 61 day mark on my AMEX BC a couple days ago. Decided to take the plunge for a 3X CLI. My SL was 11,800, so I knew requesting the full 3X would likely trigger to 4506-T request.

Yep.......I was right Smiley Happy

So...........just curious how long I might expect to wait? Will I receive any notification? Or do I just need to keep checking my account on line?

I realized when pulling up my most recently filed tax returns, that the annual income I provided (original app) was about 700-800 more than what it was in 2014 (last available transcript). I can't imagine that wil make much of a difference??

Now I wait........................I think the message said 15-30 days for processing. Have since read a few posts on here from folks who seemed to wind up in endless limbo however........hope that's not the case.....

Wish I had an answer for you but I;ve never been thru the process.  I think the people that were stuck in limbo were asking for very high limits.  Not sure that matters but I know others have receiver their answers within a month.  Hopefully that happens for you.

Re: AMEX CLI Request Triggered Expected 4506-T The waiting game begins!

My 4506 request was triggered by my spending. It took approximately 1 week from the time they received my tax papers to hear back from them. After review my account was unfrozen. All went well. Hope this helps.

I never heard back after the 4506-T request. I eventually submitted another CLI on another card and that was instantly approved.

Re: AMEX CLI Request Triggered Expected 4506-T The waiting game begins!

I am beginning to see how confusing this could get. Yesterday, I received a letter in mail from Amex regarding my requested CLI.

Attached to it was a 4506-T to complete and mail in. It was ONLY after reading all the way through the letter, I saw one short statement telling me to disregard if I had already completed the form on line. This part was pretty buried in the letter.

I just went on chat for the heck of it to see if they could tell me anything about the status. The rep told me they would check, and came back a few minutes later stating my request had been declined. When I asked why, with no counter offer, they put me on hold to check. They said the reason they saw displayed was "HI LOC"....meaning "high line of credit requested" per the rep.

Told the rep I was kind of suprised at the decine with no "counter offer" as my credit scores are 800+ and my utilization is <1%. They said they were sorry and that yes, typically a counter offer is made "if I am eligible". They gave me a number to call if I wanted to find out why there was no counter, and I called.

What I was then told was that my request was NOT declined, and that my 4506-T I submitted on line was accepted and had been sent to the IRS for processing. She told me that my request was still active, and that AMEX was just waiting for a response from the IRS. I still had the other rep on chat when I hung up and told her what i had learned from my phone conversation. I said that perhaps "declined HI LOC" only meant that it could not be auto approved.......and she told me that yes, that must be what it meant.......and was very happy my application was still active........

Smiley Happy Smiley Happy The wait continues..........

Re: AMEX CLI Request Triggered Expected 4506-T The waiting game begins!

More of a general question, but how far are people taking the 3X CLI?  Right now I am at 28K.  I think asking for 3X would be a little ridiculous, but double I would do.  Is anyone going 3X every 6 months and getting it approved no questions asked?

If I'm not mistaken, the 3X CLI is only for for new cards that reach 61 days and have not had a prior CLI. 2X CLI is what is suggested after that. Also, you want to keep CLI requests based on your personal information (i.e. exposure and income and credit profile).

This is incorrect info.. Up to 3x CLI can be requested every 180 days if approved for each.. Caveat is max of 100k per card I believe is the Cap.  If denied then one can try after 90 days.

Thanks!  I know you are right about the 3X every 180 days.  I did my initial 3X 180 days after an increase triggered by amex.
