AMEX Credit Limit Increase Question

I apologize in advance if this is already covered in another thread...

For a while I periodically checked and asked questions on the "The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide" but I see that thread is no longer.

I opened a Blue Cash Preferred card in 2017 and followed the advice from the thread and requested a $5K CLI every 6 months.  It worked every time.

Over the past few years I've started two businesses and opened 1 AMEX card (Business Plus) per business - one in 2019 and one in 2020.  Each time I opened the business card, they took from my personal card limit and applied it to the business card.  No big deal.

My last increase on the Blue Cash Preferred card was from $41K to $46K on 12/26/2020.  I then opened a personal Delta Sky Miles card in February of this year and it appears they took from my Blue Cash Preferred limit (lowered it from $46K to $26,700) and gave my Delta card a $30K credit limit. So in total between the two cards, my limit actually went up $56,700, where before opening the Delta card I was only at $46K (with the one Blue Cash Preferred card).

I tried to do a $5K increase for the Blue Cash Preferred card a couple weeks ago on 6/28 and I was getting the "your request for a Credit Limit increase has been submitted. You will receive a written response within 7 - 10 days" - they sent me letters in the mail and want me to do income and tax verification.  I tried to do the same thing with the Delta card and got the same message.

Did AMEX change their protocols so the $5K increase every six months no longer works or do I need to now wait 6 months from the date that I opened my Delta card?

Not sure if it matters but my FICO is 780

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: AMEX Credit Limit Increase Question

Below is a recent thread that may answer some questions regarding the IV request or provide some insight for future CLI requests if you receive a similar message online.

It's fairly possible that you may be reaching the overall exposure ceiling that AmEx would allow based on your overall profile, income and history with them. Perhaps, if the typical $5K amount doesn't work, try a lower amount.
