I have a friend who yesterday requested to have credit line increase 3x on her Amex Blue card and she got approved for it. However, she didn't see any increase in her cash advance limit as its still the same what she has prior to her increase in total credit line. So, AMEX don't increase cash advance limit once total credit limit gets increased? Or is it something people need to ask fo separately?
Yes, you have to request through the account services team - it's not usually auto-increased along with a limit increase.
Also - let your friend know that Amex seems to view cash advances for more of an emergency type use and may frown on consistent or frequent use.
Congrats to friend on the CLI tho!

Is this Service Team their credit department? My friend was chatting with their customer service thru her online account and she was told that she would need to talk over the phone with their Credit Department and this department can not be reached any other way except thru phone call.
A recent credit line increase wasn't auto or instant was for her, rather she requested 4 days ago, which was very first time in 24 years in any of her accounts with Amex. She was trying to put a request online but system was kept giving her an error message like "we are unable to load your info"...So, she contacted agents thru chat...they said that they could put a request for her, but they were also getting the same message. After many days late when their tech team couldn't resolve this issue, then their manager (agents' online manager) did put the request manually and told my friend that she will get the response in writing in 10 days. But she just saw the increase on her online account.
By the way, my friend never took out cash advance out of any of her AMEX accounts in 24 yrs....lols...Thanks
It's an over the phone request. Customer service will transfer you once you advise you'd like to increase your advance limit-- I do believe they're part of the credit dept.
I understood the cli wasn't auto - what I meant was that, generally, the cash advance limit isn't automatically increased whenever you receive a CLI, regardless of how the CLI came about.
I also didn't intend for my FYI to read as an accusation that your friend is a frequent cash advance user - it was literally just an FYI since the cash advance limit was the topic of discussion.
