AMEX Delta Skymiles Blue Sign Up Offer Question

Hello all. I see AMEX is currently offering 10,000 Bonus Miles as a sign up bonus for their Delta Skymiles Blue card. For those in the know, is that a pretty much standard offer for that card? Or is it usually lower, sometimes lower, sometimes greater, or sometimes non existant?

I'm interested in getting that card in the furture, and am wondering whether I should jump on the offer now, or if I wait a couple of months down the line, will the same offer, or possibly one even better be available?

From my own information it looks standard but may change depending on what their system would offer at the time to you as well as your credit profile and if youre an existing member your spending pattern, etc. If youre looking to get more miles you could go with Delta Gold or Platinum but you would have an AF.

Re: AMEX Delta Skymiles Blue Sign Up Offer Question

I could be wrong, but since its launch I don't think I've seen anything higher than 10,000 SkyPesos.  Maybe some folks received a targeted non-public offer, but perhaps others can confirm.  I say it with ❤️ since @K-in-Boston was the one who introduced me to the dark side 😁

Conversely, Delta Gold, Platinum and Reserve have had higher SUBs in the past year or so.

Thanks. Yes, I saw the bigger offers for Good and Platinum, but I don't want the AF. I also saw that some others have recommended getting the Gold Delta for 1 year and downgrading before the AF hits in the second year. With that option, is it a guarantee that they will allow you to downgrade the Gold card to the Blue without having to close it and reapply? Is there anyone who's done it? Or are there any possible down sides to doing that?

I know I want to eventually end up with the Blue Delta card and I want to do as little damage to my credit score as possible to achieve that.

If they allow you to downgrade, I wouldnt suggest downgrading before the AF hits but downgrade after since AMEX may end up taking the miles back from the promo. This is just based on DP ive seen around.

Re: AMEX Delta Skymiles Blue Sign Up Offer Question

On the Delta Gold I got earlier this year, the SUB has two stages: 60k miles up front and then 10k on the first anniversary. It seems like the second step is specifically designed to discourage people from downgrading or canceling in month 13, since doing so would presumably trigger a clawback of the 10k miles.

In my case, their plan works. I don't plan to cancel before month 25. Don't want to get on Amex's naughty list.

Delta SkyMiles Blue AMEX SUB History Question

This is a question to anyone who has specifically the SkyMiles Blue version of the AMEX Delta card, or who is familiar with it's history.

AMEX currently has a 10,000 Bonus Miles SUB for the Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card. Does anyone know if this SUB ever changes, or is it basically the standard SUB they offer on this particular card? Has the SUB ever been larger than 10,000 Bonus Miles?

Similar to the question you posed in December, the standard public offer is 10,000, which typically doesn't change much.  Targeted ones have been 15,000, IIRC.

Re: Delta SkyMiles Blue AMEX SUB History Question

In the 26 months I've been with Amex, I've never seen more than 10k offered for that card. With no AF, they don't have a lot of incentive to sweeten the pot for it, especially since they'd rather you app for a card with an AF. Boosting the SUB on Blue would be counterproductive in that respect.
