AMEX Delta

I'm thinking about taking advantage of the high bonus offers on either the Delta Gold or Platinum card from Amex. Both cards seem similar with the main differences being the mqm's and companion certificate after the first year on the platinum card. My questions/concerns are which card do you think is better for a person who will travel 6-8 times a year with Delta maybe more? Some of that being family travel. I've got the Amex Platinum which is why I'm not considering the Reserve for the club access. I'm honestly torn between the Delta card and the AA cards as I can see myself flying American more in the future as well. Finally, my concern is the amount of cards I've opened in the last 6 months. I've opened 7. My credit score is 740ish. 3% utilization although it is really zero, My payment just didn't make the cutoff. I've got a BCP and the mentioned Platinum card from Amex. Do they only do soft pulls for current card holders? How would I go about that? Thanks.

Re: AMEX Delta

When you go to the American Express site and sign into your account and then use the left panel to select credit cards underneath cards that you don't have but want to apply for it says apply now.

Going this route will bring you to a more simplistic application. It only asks for updated income and I think one other thing. I can't remember exactly.

I think this way they know you already have an account and if denies only does a soft pull. If approved in most cases they do a hard pull. I once didn't have a HP for a approved app but I believe this is very rare.

I'm grappling with the same choice but because I'm in the garden and have a young file I won't have to make the decision for a long time. My family usually travels through American Airlines and occasionally through Delta. I really like AMEX though and because we do still fly Delta sometimes might add that card versus the Citi AA one.

It's YMMV but when I was approved for ED I had 7 fresh inquires/accounts and I had 8 when I applied for BCE same for PRG. So I think you should be okay with the new accounts. Plus it's most likely a SP so I think you'll be good just trying for it.

Good Luck on whatever route you try!!
