AMEX - Experian Inquiry

I received an inquiry alert and when I checked it was on my Experian report from AMEX.  I applied for an AMEX (can't remember which one) about two days ago because I read in the forums that AMEX only hard pulls if approved.  I received a denial message with the suggestion I try their AMEX Serve card.

But with this inquiry showing up on my Experian report does this mean they may have approved me?  Or is AMEX application process now all hard pulls whether you're approved or not?

Do you already have an amex card? Thats the only case in which that is true.

No, I do not have an AMEX card.  I applied for AMEX a few months back too and never received an inquiry on my report.

That must have been a fluke. The only time (that I've seen) that amex will sp if declined is if you're already a member.

Give them a call and see what that is all about.  It is also a chance to recon if indeed it is a denial..
