Good afternoon everyone,
I've recently applied for the AMEX Gold Card since most of my spend in the near future will be on dining and groceries. I was declined with a SP and asked to wait 30 days from date listed above on letter (believed to be 7/18, purpose of this post), but upon applying today after that 30 day wait, I had my application cancelled. I am not sure if I misread the letter and it wanted me to wait 30 days after initial app (8/15), but I am unsure since my application on 8/13 (happened because I did not thoroughly read the letter the first time) was listed as declined, so I thought my most recent application would also be declined if it was rejected for the same reason, so I am confused as to why this was cancelled and not declined.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to miss out on that 60,000 SUB if I do not need to. ![]()
Give them a call

I did give them a call, and the gentleman said that can only apply once every thirty days, otherwise they reject the application as to not unecessarily damage credit. However, this is contrary to the letter which asked me to wait 30 days post-soft pull for updated score. I find this advice unhelpful as he was not able to explain why app #2 was declined whereas app #3 was cancelled without solid reason. He also stated that that's what "he thinks" it was for, but seemed uncertain.
He could be right, given he is a CSR, but his answers seems inconsistent with other correspondence.

I would have asked to speak to a supervisor, if nothing else, for clarification.
