AMEX- Need advice

I applied and was approved for an AMEX ED card for $2K last week. It was mostly an impulse application, to be honest. I was just psyched to be approved for a card with them. As I've been looking further into the other card benefits, I wondered about applying for the BCE card. I thought that might not be the best idea, since I was JUST approved by them. Would it be a bad idea to try and apply for a different AMEX card at this point? I'm mostly asking for purposes of not "biting off more than I can chew" with AMEX, so to speak. Not hugely concerned about the hard inquiry. I'm most concerned about starting off on the wrong foot with them. Any advise on what I should do?

I would just leave it alone for now and build a solid payment history on this card.  What are your scores and what other cards and CL's do you have?

Re: AMEX- Need advice

Scores range from from 672-694. In the same app spree I was approved for Discover IT, Chase Freedom, And Cap 1 Venture, just to name the major creditors. I didn't think it would make much sense to call and see if I could run the BCE app and just close the ED based on approval but that might be more hassel than it's worth.

Congrats on your approval.  ^Pretty sure they wouldn't do that.

Didn't think so. I'll probably just stick with the ED card and maybe upgrade down the road. It's probably unrealistic that they'd give me both cards at this point anyway.

Re: AMEX- Need advice

Congrats on your approvals. Smiley Very Happy  I would wait a bit. I app'd & got mine in Nov.  After my last 3xcli, I'm going to wait and app for one more Amex.  Don't want to rock the boat on my cli's.

Re: AMEX- Need advice

I appied last week maybe a little over a week for BCE was approved $3000 and instantly apped for ED. Had to call and they said I had to wait 2-5 days before they ran the secont app.

Didn't believe I would get approved for the second so I 3X cli on BCE for the $9000 was approved right after I received card in mail. Received email for the approval on ED for $9,900! Couldn't believe it!

Scores were TU 728 EQ 716 EX 716

Re: AMEX- Need advice

OP, similar situation as me lol. but unfortunately, you can't get the bonus from the BCE because you have an amex product already. knowing that info is why i will ask to convert my ED to the BCP (i don't see much value in the BCE vs the BCP)

Re: AMEX- Need advice

okay so i actually just called them. you can do a product upgrade 6 months after you have your card. it'll be a soft inquiry and your card number remains the same. but of course you can do an application too.... but that changes your AAoA and hits your credit as well.
