i wanted the amazon prime since i saw they offered it with the ED card but i applied for it BEFORE the offer. 

 

does the application count as HP?

It will only be a HP if you were approved, so it should be a SP.. Benefit of being with amex already.

Each of the Preferred cards has a $95 AF, so if all you are looking for is "free Amazon Prime" you can get the same deal by writing a check (or using the ED card) to pay Amazon $99 for Prime, right?

 

The thing people get boloxed up about with these credit cards is, you have to look closely at what benefit these "rewards" are really getting for you. They don't lose money on these giveaways.
