Good Morning all;
I will be approaching 6 months of credit history in June; I have the five cards in my signature and I am overall very happy with all of them. I was just wondering if you guys would suggest another card to app for to help build a strong history. I'd prefer an unsecured or partially secured credit card with no annual fee; Interest rate doesnt matter because I don't carry any balances.....
I've been considering the Bank Americacard HRC cash rewards Visa that benifits the Human rights Campaign; but dont know if I have the credit history to get approved for that specific card or any Bank of America Card; I wouldnt mind being offered the $99 secured card product but I dont want another fully secured card as I am building a great history already.
I am also concerned that I will not get an automatic increase on my Capital One Platinum secured: I have not been using the card as much since I got my Discover card; however I do run some money through the card and keep it paid down to 0$. any advice on this would be helpful.
I keep everything paid in full; I've just been putting my everyday spending on the credit cards instead of my debit card; with my low limits I end up paying the cards off about 2 times a week to avoid nearing my credit limits; and I hate oweing the credit card companies any money!
Thanks so much for your help in advance!
Regards,
You may want to consider waiting another six months and let your accounts age. Use them well and your scores and history will improve. When I was rebuilding I only had three cards and my scores made it to the high 700's before I did any serious apping. It was a year for me. Because I waited I have two credit union memberships and cards and some excellent credit limits and APR. Plus a car loan with 1.99% APR.
Would you share your current FICO 8 scores? Negatives?

Agreed. I would wait until the year mark until seeking new credit, and that's if there are no negatives on your reports.

I would need to know what your present FICO scores, limits, and balances are.

Hello Everyone;
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply; I usually carry a zero balance on all of my cards. I'm at 1,300 in total credit last time I checked my fako scores. I have not reach 6 months yet around June 30th I believe is my 6 months since getting capital one secured; I cant get my Fico's until 6 months of history has reported according to discover. If I carry a balance it is on my VonMaur card because it's interest free; however VonMaur does not report a credit limit.... Or it is for reporting purposes and I pay it off as soon as the statement cuts; I'm hoping for a credit limit increase on my cap one secured at the 6 month mark.
I really want a card that offers good rewards at grocery stores and gas stations. My discover it only offers 2% at gas and fast food. The rest is under the 1% category.
I guess I'll wait until one year unless you all have any suggestions on what to app for. My credit is clean and my file is rather thin with only 5-6 months history and no lates.
Thanks in advance guys
If you're interested in cards for groceries and gas, you might consider applying for the AMEX BCE (Blue Cash Everyday). It would be best to wait another 6 months before doing so, though. Check the AMEX Prequalified site to see if you are prequalified - the general consensus here seems to be that the prequalifier is quite solid.

I think you would be better off waiting, but if you wanted to apply for a card now I would suggest checking Capital One's prequalification page. If you're prequalified for either the Platinum or the Quicksilver, go for it. Otherwise, chill out and tend the cards you have for at least 3 months.
Pay them off before the statement cut, not after, except for one small balance. I.e. have 4 cards reporting at zero, ,and 1 card reporting a small balance of 9% or less of the credit limit. This will optimize your overall utilization scoring.
