AmEx 3x CLI declined :(

Today was my 61st day so I hit the luv button and got the dreaded 7-10 day message. Called in and was told I was declined because of debt load or something like that. Oh well. She said I can try again in 90 days.

Its never a guarantee. All you can do is wait and try again.

I got dread 7-10 4 Days ago, have not call them yet, 10% overall utility, zero balance on spg, 8K limit, ask for 20K, almost 800 CS, everything else is OK, my guess is lack of usage, and I will use a lot more starting next month when they rid of FTF, and try again in 90.

well honestly 3x is a ton for a CLI and many people were being approved that didn't need it at all

I agree that it's a lot. I probably don't need the full 3x, but I would've liked to have my first $10,000 limit.

You can always try again in 90 days.  Of course, all things considered, if AMEX is tightening their purse strings a bit, then you may need to consider your options or accept what they give you next time around, even if it's less than your goal.

I do think the 3x CLI can be overkill sometimes and you should shoot for what you reasonably need. I wouldnt be surprised to see them tighten up as for many people the 3x ends up being a very large number.

They are tightening up, but time and use gets better. When I got my BCE, it was candy time for increases. Summer, not so much. Might have to wait six months, year.

I'd be perfectly happy with $10k for now if they'd give it to me. I'm still a student so my income doesn't reasonably support much more than that. I was shocked at the $6k SL when I got the card so I don't have much room to complain.
