AmEx BCP Signup Bonus Question

So the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred has been on my planned apps list for a while. I have been waiting until my Experian credit report/score was fixed. I am on the cusp of getting it fixed within the next month, so I am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to get the BCP. I spend a lot on groceries, so getting the 6% is a big deal for my household and an easy way to get a lot of cash back.

Anyway, I wanted to ask for peoples' experiences regarding the lifetime signup bonus rule. I know this was introduced within the last two years. I am in a bit of a weird situation because I had the Blue Cash Everyday card that I opened in 2013, later upgraded to the Preferred, and foolishly closed the account in 2017. Don't ask, LOL.

Technically, they could say I had this card at some point, but I didn't get the signup bonus when I upgraded from the BCE. I think I did get the SUB when I originally opened the BCE, so I am unsure if I would slip through the cracks and qualify for the current $250 SUB they are offering. I'll get the card anyway without the SUB, but I just want to figure out if the $250 is possible or not. So I was wondering how this rule has been applied to other forum members.

Re: AmEx BCP Signup Bonus Question

I would say maybe not, but who knows with Amex! I got the BCP - received sign up bonus. A year and a half later I downgraded to BCE, months later they gave me an enticement offer to upgrade to BCP - so I did. So I have technically been rewarded twice.
