AmEx Gold Card SUB is A/B Testing.
That is, they are testing to see how many people take each welcome offer and how quickly they apply for the card. They also obviously aren't as keen to attract current AmEx customers.
I'm seeing Business Gold over 200,000 sometimes. Sometimes 175,000. Sometimes they want you to spend $15,000 in 3 months (200,000 MR points), sometimes $10,000 in 3 months (175,000)
Personal Gold can be 60,000 , 75,000, 90,000, or 100,000. (All spend $6,000 in 6 months)
If they know you're a customer, you get 60,000 even if logged out.
In private browsing mode it's a pseudorandom number generator. In Google Chrome it usually lands on 90,000 but sometimes 75,000 in private mode.
100,000 tends to come up in Firefox.
If you can't get the 100,000 in Firefox, try closing the private window and open a new one and come back to the gold card page until 100,000 comes up. Ditching a Private Window and opening a new one tosses the cookies that AmEx uses to make the offer permanent for you.

Dumb question, but why can't they just deflate your SUB automatically down to 60k instead of 90-100k if you (as a customer) get approved?
I mean, once you hit apply, they know your history with/without you as a customer...unless this would be classified as a "deceptive practice/advertising".
They don't. You get whichever one got loaded into the application even though you identify yourself on the application. Verified with customer service that it was 100,000.
This is also why if you bypass pop-up jail somehow they don't renege on the SUB.
