I think it's pretty solid. My hubby and I kept getting the Amex Plat 40k offer everytime we logged into our accounts. So when the 100k link showed up, had hubby app for it and had no problems. I'm stuck in the garden and there's an electric fence around me!

I am going through same thing as your brother. Still in rebuilding phase with scores of 663/662/632 (EX is 663) and was pleasantly surprised to see the pre-qual for Everday and Blue...so I apped for the Blue and was denied. Waiting for the denial letter as well and then may consider Recon based on info. Even though it would result in another HP, if I get the feeling that it might go through after talking with CSR I might take a shot. Other data points for is Util 44% and 1 CO showing balance of $4.5k plus 1 PIF auto loan with some lates.
So perhaps I was a bit too eager in applying and should have let file clean up a bit more and bring Util down
Good luck!! Let us know how it works out. He also has 3 medical collections. But, again, he wasn't expecting anything. He has 2 Capital one cards, a plat and Qs1 at $300 each. Just so happened to be checking prequalified sites, and AMEX came up. So it was a shock to see those 2. I feel bad because I encouraged him to apply, since I have never received a prequalification from them, even though my scores are better.
