Amazon Store Card CLI Denial

I will start by saying this was my very first card when I started my credit journey. I was approved for this card June 2018, back when they had the secured card offering. I applied for a $100 limit at the time (because it was my first card and I wanted to play it safe). Fast forward to present day August 2021, this card is still at it's original $100 limit, despite my several attempts at a CLI with synchrony. I am much further on my credit journey now and have around 4 cards, all of them being at a $1,500 credit line or more. I don't understand why I cannot get approved for a CLI with this card. I am sitting at a 747 FICO score and currently only have around $500 to pay on a loan, otherwise my credit report looks great. I've never had a late payment on any of my cards and there's nothing I can think of that can be causing these denials with my Store Card. I asked for a $400 increase which would put me at a $500 total credit line with them and I was still rejected about 5 times now.  I forgot to mention that the card I applied for was the secured Amazon Prime Store Card, which has since graduated to the unsecured card, without an increase to the credit line. Does anyone have any advice or data points that could help me with my CLI?

What's the rational for the denial? Seems something in your profile they may not like.

Re: Amazon Store Card CLI Denial

It sounds like this card is bucketed. Meaning it was issued when you where stating out or re building. It will never be subject to a CLI. Your best best is to open a new account now that you have established credit and close this one out. Unless you are OK with it never having a CLI

Thanks for your post

I would just apply for the Chase Amazon card if you want the 5% cash back.   If approved, close this one.   It's bucketed.

I agree! You should be able to get the Chase Amazon card more easily, and now is the best time to do that. They have been generous with SL's lately, too.
