American Express Application?

Wondering if 1 med collection on CR is a deal breaker with Am Ex? I have 2 Cap 1 cards, Discover, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom. EX 670 Tu 654 Eq 644. Get pre select on Am Ex website for all the charge cards. 2 year AAoA. No lates, 6%ut, 9 inq. Declined for  Chase Freedom 2 months ago. Don't want to risk a hard pull for another decline.

No, one medical collection isn't a deal breaker.  If they have a card you're interested in, I'd go ahead any apply.  No guarantees but that one item won't result in a decline.  Let us know the results if you do.

Re: American Express Application?

I'm on the fence. Might wait until I see ED show up in my pre select line up. I'm working like crazy to get that med collection off my record. I am fairly new to the credit game. My AAoA is good because of a 5 year old paid off car loan. If I can get rid of the collection I'll be golden. I must say, I am having a more fun than I thought I would in this credit building operationSmiley Very Happy

That's a good idea to wait if there is no immediate need for an Amex right now.  We are here to help with any questions and if you haven't already visit the Rebuilding Your Credit forum for suggestions on how to deal with your medical collection.

Re: American Express Application?

I got a 7-10 on Chase and called for  recon. They said no, because of the collection.

How many HPs is that so far with them? You may be able to get a 2nd recon if you tried hard. Last year my 2nd recon wasn't enough for me. Even received a nicely worded letter from their Exex offices.

Qualified for the Amex ED with 660EX score last month with one collection still showing.  Turned around and apped for the BCE but was turned down because profile did not support that card.  Was told when I called in to establish some history and it was hinted that the collection factored in my denial for the BCE.  Hope the information helps.
