#1: I will never do business with BofA

#2: I get 3X on ANY travel with my NF Flagship, and 2X on everything else.

#3: I want to see about building a relationship with AMEX again.

Re: American Express Black List

I saw this last week - no idea if it's true or not, but could offer some (a lot?) of explanation over general lack of real answers on here. "I was able to get through to my account manager, and he said any employee who overrides the blacklist who isn't a senior manager is fired within days. Those accounts are monitored and audited for any access." I guess we'd need a senior manager!

But where? I don't think you can buy them...

Yes, the ask is specifically for AmEx. Usually those people, they, them, us, me, I, have specific reason(s) for it - as stated elsewhere in this thread. Others have suggested "try applying for CreditOne" when asked for advice on an AmEx approval (don't laugh, it's happened) which has absolutely nothing to do with our situation. While I CAN'T disagree, I am kind of curious about the BofA refusals though?

I meant where do you find "a partner or friend who is willing to try to add you as an AU to their AmEx card?"

Tinder, Christian Mingle, high school reunion, grocery store, etc...

The possibilities are endless.

Excellent! With any luck - they'll also share their AmEx account number(s), so I may gain access to their membership.

Re: American Express Black List

Becoming a AU won't work. Well it will for about two weeks. Once you get the card you have two weeks, if i remember correctly, to contact Amex or log onto the web site, and provide your SS#. Once you do, and they match it, which they will, the card is deactivated. But you get a nice souvenir!  I have a dead Amex Plat but have my wife's in my iPhone Wallet and use it that way!

Starting Score TU: 520
Current Score TU: 815. EX: 806. EQ: 819

Chase Freedom $20k, WellsFargo $12k, Barclay $5k, BCU $15k, Discover $5k, USAA $7k, Lowes $8k, Home Depot $10k, Citi $13k, Apple $15k, Credit One, $20k, NFCU, $25k, Arvest $35K

Re: American Express Black List

That's not how it works with my Amex BCP card.

When I try to add an AU that is currently BL'd from Amex, the authorization to add that user is immediately declined.

I do have other cards that act in the way you describe, but again, my Amex card isn't that way.

Re: American Express Black List

When my wife added me, about a year ago, as a AU on her Plat it only asked for my name and it was sent with a letter to log in or call within two weeks. I can only give you my experience your mileage may vary.

So I guess we've established that Amex doesn't treat all of their cards the same in that aspect.

Although, the method does still work, just with a bit of a delay in your case.

It's not ideal though, obviously.

However it is a method that avoids wasting a hard inquiry to your credit report(s).
