Amex 3xCLI Question

Hey All,

I'm interested in doing a 3x CLI on my DL Plat Amex that currently has a $15k limit. I've had the card for 3 years, and put $3-5k through a month, paid off in full.

Two catches (more info about me below):

1. My salary is currently $165k all in, but my 2015 W2 shows $108,000 (before my raise). I tried the CL online and put $165k for salary, but it asked for the 4506T form. I had to leave a meeting, so I logged out and ended the process (I hope).

2. I opened an Amex ED last week (put $165k salary when asked, no verification) and was granted a $25k limit.

Questions - should I now resubmit the CLI on the DL Plat with a $108k salary? Should I be asking for the full 3x CLI ($45k), and am I likely to be approved? If I submit a 108k salary, will they cross reference with my $165k claim on the ED application and will this cause issues?

About Me

  • Visa BankAmericard (10 yrs): $2k limit
  • Amex DL Plat (3 yrs): $15k limit (spend and pay off $5k/mo)
  • Amex ED (just opened): $25k limit
  • Amex Green Card (4 yrs)
  • Transunion Score 787
  • Equifax Score 743
  • Experian FICO 752 (would be higher, but currently have higher balances on 2 cards near end of monthly billing cycle, and this was pre-ED approval at $25k).

Thanks in advance!

Re: Amex 3xCLI Question

Sorry nobody responded, and I don't have Amex yet. I'd try a search of the threads. There is plenty of discussion about there 3X increases. Best of luck.

Re: Amex 3xCLI Question

Personally, I would only put down a salary that I can prove. If you made 108k last year and you can prove it, that's what I would put down when asked. BTW..your EX score is great. I wouldn't be too concerned.
