Hi all,
Current fico scores ranging 652-676. 8K total CL between NFCU, Disco, Cap 1 QS, Cap 1 Secured, Credit 1, Walmart, and Amazon cards.
I check for amex prequals almost weekly and never anything, today prequal for both BCE and ED. I have multiple cash back cards and I am thinking the rewards on ED will be a better option for miles as I do travel 2-3 times a year.
Is there any differences in approval criteria/odds on the 2 cards?
Does either one have a tendency for a higher initial CL?

Just read a thread where someone applied for both cards weeks apart (BCE and then ED). BCE was approved for 500 and weeks later ED was approved at 5000. The second one wasn't an instant approval. It's the first I've read something like that so don't take that to the bank and try to cash it. Your miles may vary.
Applied for ED - got 14 day message.
Status link says they will let me know as soon as a decision is made, I clicked the link to consent to decision via email vs mail.
Should I call them?
I believe you can't call to speak to a live rep til Monday (someone correct me if I'm wrong there). If the automated line and online application still say pending you might have to wait til you hear back from them til that time.
Intended to call first thing this morning, ended up busy @ the office. Recieved a call about 10 mins ago from Amex.
I guess I have a fraud alert on my Experian report? I did not know this, and in the past 6months have opened accounts with NFCU, Discover, Walmart/Sync, Amazon/Sync, and now Amex with no notification, except Amex. Kudos on them for following the fraud alert I did not place! - Looking into this now / how to remove it.
Anyway, he verified some basic info such as last 4 of ssn, year of birth, mailing address and informed me I was APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CSR offered to expedite the card at no fee, will recieve in 24-72 hours! Any way to check on my CL before reciving the card?
Jumping for joy about now, I never thought I could ever have an Amex card. I'll make a post over on the approval section w/ data points.
Thanks for everything,
Congrats! I'm surprised the rep didn't tell you on the phone. Try checking the app status site: https://www262.americanexpress.com/eaol/welcome.do
Also, I found another post for someone who apped for ED first and then later went to BCE and the SLs were significantly different. So that puts a hole in my working theory that ED might start higher Might just be the little bit of "history" that is doing it.

Curious, what limit did they give you?

That probably explains why you didn't get an immediate answer with AMEX since they pull EX. The other cards you mentioned earlier are primairly TU with a EQ thrown in for Discover app maybe. Regardless, congrats on the approval there.
