Amex BCP approval with rsvp code (is it a soft pull if I don’t make the cut)

I received a Pre Approval for the Amex BCP with an approval code and was wondering if it will be a soft pull if I don't make the cut. The only Amex card I have at the moment is the Amex Everyday Card. I figure 6% back on groceries and 6% on streaming I can use. It does however  have an annual fee of $95 but they wave it for the first year. It also has 0% interest for a year then a variable APR, 13.99% to 23.99%.

It usually is, but it's not guaranteed. Best to go in expecting an HP, and if it is only an SP, then consider it a win.

If you are already an AMEX customer it is almost always a SP.  It can be a HP but those seem to be few and far between.  I've got 4 AMEX cards, applied for a couple others and only had 1 HP in the 5 years I've been a customer.
