I tried at 90-something days and now again at 180-something days and both times state the following reason:
"Your account was opened recently, and your tenure with American Express is too short."
That is the only reason this time. Last time mentioned revolving balances which were a few hundred dollars.
I have no negative experience with them in the past. I'm curious why they won't grow when my other cards are giving increases. It's my lowest limit at 1000 on Blue Cash Preferred.
Utilization is near 0 with no derogatory information. I guess I'll try again at the 1 year mark 🤷🏼♂️
Well sorry to say you did it to yourself. I have figured it out over the last few decades. Your chances for a CLI or a new card is dramatically higher if you carry a utilization of no less then 2% and no more then 6%. Once your untilization falls under 2% you are actually not considered is as valuebale and not very profitable.
I myself now keep no less then 2% and no more then 6% and usually always now get the CLI or a new card. To not owe any money is shooting yourself in the foot so to say. Again, been there and done that myself.

Thanks I'll try that in a few months.

That may work for you, but it may not work for OP. Every profile is different.
OP, yes, unfortunately your card is "bucketed" and you were barely approved to begin with. A $1k SL is a borderline approval. Those cards are hard to grow, just ask @Brian_Earl_Spilner.
My wife's first CLI took almost a year (mine was doubled in 36 hours), don't take it personally, just apply again in 91 days. But, yes, you are likely bucketed.
If you are ok sharing, what is you Experian score?
