Re: IRS refused to give AmEx 4506t

Now that's down right odd. I'd like to know what on earth is going on.

Re: IRS refused to give AmEx 4506t

The IRS isn't always right.
They occasionally type a wrong number or click a wrong button.

It could've been a simple processing error on their end, and someone at the IRS is being "too busy & too important" to actually check for the computing error. "Sir, the results on the computer are this, so this is what it is." My math teacher always said, "if garbage goes in, garbage comes out" referring to calculators. Smiley Wink

I wouldn't be surprised if you simply did a new request for the 4506t again, it'll be processed.

Can you request the 4506t for yourself and then forward it to amex? Never bothered to do the poi with amex, so not sure if that'll jive.

I've been waiting for over 70 days for a response and I finally got one, but it doesn't make any sense. American Express said I filled the form out correctly but the IRS rejected to release my information due to "security protocols" which the Amex rep asked a supervisor and they still didn't know.

What in the world is going on?

I worked for the IRS for several years. Things like this do not surprise me in the least. Most of the computer systems the IRS uses are ancient, obtuse systems based on 1990's architecture and still pulling from databases orignally designed in the 1980's. The various systems...barely...communicate correctly with each other on a good day. Odds are your information in one of the systems at some point got keyed in inncorrectly or mixed up with someone elses and flagged as a mismatch which would trigger a security freeze.

Unfortunately I would like to give you better news, but even if you do manage to get through to a CS Rep who actually takes the time and tracks down the issue (which is usually a dice roll as is with the IRS). If it's a system issue then the CS Rep would have to forward it to IT to manually correct in the system, which could take weeks if you're lucky, months if you're not.

Your best bet might to physcially go to an IRS office (if one is nearby). They seem to be a lot more responsive when you are sitting right in front of them and....maybe...you can even get a supervisor who knows how to pull some string and expedite the process.

If your identity was compromised at some point when the filing of such tax documents occurred, or is somehow correlated to the Discover or CU litigation issues (i.e. family member arrested and a credit union sued for $8k in damages) that you discussed on separate threads, then it would behoove you to follow the instructions provided on Form 14611 to determine your next steps.

Re: IRS refused to give AmEx 4506t

You're not doing anything wrong. As of July 2019, you can no longer send a transcript to a third party. From the latest 4506-T form:

Future Developments
For the latest information about Form 4506-T and its
instructions, go to www.irs.gov/form4506t. Information about
any recent developments affecting Form 4506-T (such as
legislation enacted after we released it) will be posted on that
page.
What’s New. As part of its ongoing efforts to protect
taxpayer data, the Internal Revenue Service announced that
in July 2019, it will stop all third-party mailings of requested
transcripts. After this date masked Tax Transcripts will only
be mailed to the taxpayer’s address of record.
If a third-party is unable to accept a Tax Transcript mailed to
the taxpayer, they may either contract with an existing IVES
participant or become an IVES participant themselves. For
additional information about the IVES program, go to
irs.gov and search IVES.
