Hello All,
Just wanted to receive some feedback on my current situation from experienced Amex cardholders here. I was fooling around with the amex pre approval link and it seemed I qualified to apply for 8 different Amex Cards ! So, I wanted to go with the Amex rewards gold charge card. Unforuntately, I applied and was declined. Then I submitted an app for the Delta Gold card. Denied as well. I called the recon line and the representative informed me if I wanted to recon of the cards it would be better to recon for the Delta card. The issue of decline was due my 3 revolvers were reflectting a balance as opposed to being paid off in full. I guess it was due to when they pulled it. I received the fax number and submitted them to the dept.
Today, I called in to check on the status since it still shows " in progress". I called the underwriting dept. number for recons. After speaking with 2 representatives that basically read off the computer as robots. I decided to call a final time. This time, the representative, felt alive/human. She was kind and understood the issue. She reviewed the file and I explained that I should wait until Wednesday or so to call back. She told me she will be personally keeping an eye on the application. After explaining to her I would like to just start a relationship with Amex on a SOL basis and not have the burden of just being an AU. She told me SIR, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IN REGARDS TO YOUR APPLICATION EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE!!!!
Now, Im still sitting " in progress" and more confused then ever. Is she going to APPROVE it or was it just talk. Can someone assist me here?
Yeah. I figured that much. Just wanted to see if I shared anything in common with any of the members here. Personally, I have never came across a situation that I was told to not worry yet still not be approved. Just found it odd. Guess time will tell. 2 days and counting.

I dunno what to tell ya. What are your scores?
I dunno what is up with Amex lately and taking longer to process apps. Maybe its because of all the extra bonuses? I know one thing, I never had to wait more than a few hours to get mine approved....my scores were below 700 at time of approval.
The rep. told me when I reconed that my score was 615 for EXP. They didn't mention the score being low or giving me a problem. The only issue was that some revolvers were not being showed as payed off. I explained to them they are paid off in full and I can submit the most recent statement. Also, my utilization overall is under 20%. Let's see what happens. I checked this morning repeatedly but nothing just yet. I suppose tomorrow it will be updated according to the rep.
