Amex Platinum Denial... Strongly Disagree

So I decided to apply for the Amex Platinum card. I figued I have short (3 months) but good history with Amex. I use my card a lot, ALWAYS pay in full, pay early, pay multiple times a month, etc... My fico score is 737. Idk why Amex wouldnt approve me for this card. I always heard that charge cards were easier to get as well. Just wanted to vent here. Im very frustrated.

Did you check for pre-approval while signed in before applying?

I was in that same boat when i started with Amex as well.  Altho my score wasnt as high as yours, and still isnt.  I was told charge cards are easier to get and credit is harder.  I got a Delta and SPG at 635.  No on a charge card.  Then i got BCE/ED same day, and no on a charge card with a 672.   Now when i go into cards and offers, i have a pre-approval for it.  Dont want it LOL     It is frustrating for sure.

Check the pre-approvals first and when you click apply now, it will say you are pre-approved at the top.  If it says expand your membership, then its just like any other apping cold.   Hope that helps.

Re: Amex Platinum Denial... Strongly Disagree

Op, sorry if I missed it....what was the reason for your denial?

OP, there was plenty of advice floating around on several of your AMEX threads as provided by several forum members not long ago to hold off given your thin profile.

Unfortunately, you pulled the trigger too early and the denial reasons should provide some context on what you need to do to improve your chances next time.

3 months is really nothing in terms of credit history. Just have to be patient and let things age, build your history and try again later.

Is your income low?  I got approved for the Platinum with a score in the 690's and had just gotten an Amex PRG and Amex BCE  2 months ealier.   My BCE only came with a 1k limit.  Not sure why they wouldn' approve you.  Apply again in 6 months.

Op:

Didnt folks around here tell you to sit tight for at least 6 months.. if not more?

You have a thin file .. give it time to grow already...

Instant gratification seldom gets you anywhere when your new with your OWN credit...

BTW a 7xx score on a thin file does not mean the same as a 7xx score on one with a few or more years on it..
