Amex Platinum Email?

So i received an email about an 'offer'... as an american express card member, you know adding a new card gives you more choices and more benefits. That's why we would like to invite you to add the pla card to your wallet. Ect..... OFFER Expires 6/27/2019.

Ive already applied once for this card a couple months after i got my first amex. i have a total of seven inquirys the latest are this month one from a bis credit card from my bank and one from a discover card i applied for. i have a equifax 731 trans 724 experian 744. Should i go ahead and take them up on the offer?? I use my AMEX Cash Mag Card alot i have 4 users added on my card and pay it off every week or before because of the 4k limit. Id appreciate the feedbaack and suggestions!

Re: Amex Platinum Email?

If you will use the benefits and MR’s go for it!

If not, I’d pass. While it’s a nice looking card, it’s not worth $550 a year if you won’t recoup the AF.

Good luck!

Re: Amex Platinum Email?

Also keep in mind that this email is likely just marketing, check the prequal site to see if it even shows up under there. Although I see you listed an expiration date, is there any verbage in there about preapproval or prequalification?

Re: Amex Platinum Email?

What bonus are they offering you via the email? Because I got the 75k mr after 5k spend by doing incognito mode after I saw I was pre approved when I checked the card offers link.

As for the fee it’s worth it in the first year because of the Bonus MR and Uber credits alone then you can always cancel after the first year (make sure you keep it for thr full year to avoid clawback of the bonus)

^^^This^^^. If you know for a fact that your use will outweigh the large AF, then check the actual prequals on your account. If you’re good to go, then app away lol

Here's the link to check AMEX prequal: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/check-for-offers/

Sounds like if you got an rsvp code you might be preapproved, but I would still check just to see what shows up under your name on that link.
