Seems like those kind of things could prompt the closer look.
Agreed, credit is a useful tool and I'd consent to provide additional personal info in some circumstances I think. Depends on the recipient, reason and reward.
Irony is, these days I am sure a fair bit of the info I guard is in fact out in the open somewhere.. Despite not being able to really do anything about that, I continue to do what I can (even if only an illusion) to limit profiling and privacy invasion.
I was surpised last December i was pre approved for the Platinum, but i went ahead with the Charles Schwab version.
Congrats on the pre approval. Platinum is in my dreams at the moment, with time it'll come haha
@OniStringer thanks! Will update once they process my 4506-c form, hopefully it doesn't take too long

Do you already have account access to your return transcripts through the IRS website? It makes accessing 4506 requests faster and easier. Plus you can see exactly what data will be provided and to who.
Op, congrats on pre-approval!

@fury1995 i do. But I think Amex has to request them directly, I don't think I can send them myself
@anik28 Good Lord, I just saw that they still use eFax services to make the request... IF they are part of the IVES system.
@fury1995 correct, still awaiting a response from them. From what I've read, it can take up to 2 weeks.
I had to do this with Discover as well. But they approved my account and then did the verification- Amex is very strict, and won't finish the application process until they get a response from the IRS, which could take some time. Patience is a virtue!
Update: approved! No preset spending limit and 125,000 bonus points for spending 6K in the first 6 months.
so thrilled! This is my first Amex and one I have wanted for so long
