Amex Pre-Qualified with solid apr

On Thursday night I checked the card offers and for the first time ever I was pre-Qualified for the Blue Cash Preferred card with a solid apr of 13.74
I applied and got a message saying "We're sorry. The card apply site is temporarily down."
I received an email after saying we got your application and we will let you know when we are done. I checked the status page and it says in progress check back in 24 hours.
I called yesterday and was told the app was being reviewed and to wait for an email.

Anyone else get this response?

Re: Amex Pre-Qualified with solid apr

The apr is the same as DW got.  It is the best offer.  They pull exp and your exp is good. My understanding is Amex prequal re very solid.   Did you have perchance a BKO on your profile?

Nope. Also, I cold app'd for a platinum card a week before the pre approval and was instantly denied.

Re: Amex Pre-Qualified with solid apr

Yeah your EXP looks really good for approval so unless there is something else in your reports like bad history with AMEX or recent derog...I think you should be good. I wonder why they denied the Platinum....maybe income...???

Re: Amex Pre-Qualified with solid apr

I meant Bk typo.sorry   Next questions now that I have returned from shopping   What was pulling your scores down 2 years ago to around 500?  How many cards do you have, average age and % util.  There is something they don't like but  what?  Its not the scores.  My DW can't prequalify for a Citi Double Cash she has higher scores, thicker file, higher age  as well as higher income and low util but she never gets the preapproval but i do.  I have one and get offers all the time for more Citi Cards I don't want   any more. Figure that out.

Re: Amex Pre-Qualified with solid apr

2 years ago I had multiple charge offs and no open cards. Now I have 25 open nothing negative. 5% util oldest card is 2 years and average is 1.5

I was denied for the platinum for too many new accounts and inquiries. But pre-qualified a week later for the blue cash preferred card with the lowest apr. Nothings changed since the platinum app. Just going to wait it out and hope its approved

Re: Amex Pre-Qualified with solid apr

You average age is a little low but not fatal.  Oldest account not great but I have seen them approve with much younger.  Your inq and number of accounts in 2 years I think are what huring  you. Especially when you throw age into the mix.  They love low utiz which would help you.  My suggestion is to garden and age what you have for 1 year .  At this point your approved limits will start going down ie $1000 limits.    I know Chase would not touch you  I also believe I read credit card from Amex is harder to than charge card.  Once the # inq drops and average age hits 2 years your scores will rock to 750.  They may very take you for Blue Cash Pref  but it depends if the spirit moves them with 25 new cards.   Any one else have knowledge about 25 new cards and Amex approval?
