Amex Prequalified

Does the Amex pre-qualified process actually give you card you should apply for? They give me recommended cards, but I don't know if it's generic or specific?

Current Information (05/2016)
Scores: EX: 633, EQ: 619, and TU: 727
Current Utilization: ?%

Goal: All above 750 and no more than 3% utilization

Gardening until 12/31/16 (Hopefully)

I believe that's a generic response, and does not mean you are pre approved. Just like an invitation to apply doesn't guarantee you will be approved.

Recommended means you have no prequalified offers at this time they recently changed their wording on the prequal

Yeah, a prequal will say something like "Hello, Name. We have found the following pre-qualified Card offers for you bla bla we invite you to apply today", will list the prescreen and opt-out notice link and under offer type for each card it will say stuff like "existing pre-screened offer you received in the mail" or "new pre-screened online offer".
