Amex Subsequent Apps

So i could be wrong, but want to make sure. I read on here that applications for Subsequent Amex cards are a SP? Like if you login into your account and apply from there its a SP. Is this correct? I ask for future Backdating purposes or if a new card they release comes out.

From what I understood it is SP if denied and HP if accepted. Backdating = month of app plus year from MSD..so wait until January for subsequent app to max backdating

Unfortunately not!   The rule (and there have been exceptions in a bad way) is the if you get DENIED, it is a SP. whereas success is an HP.

This is good if you really want the card but don't want a wasted HP, most of the time this will work.

I did not know that. Thanks for clarifying.

Another positive data point about AMEX and how they manage information about the user.

Re: Amex Subsequent Apps

From my experience if you just got in with Amex and try to app for another card the same month you got approved for your first card, it will be a HP but once you've established yourself with them, from there on out, it will be a SP for a denial and a HP for an approval.
