Amex asked for bank letterhead..

So I sent them it.

They said they will let me know in 24 - 72 hours of my application.

This a good sign?

Re: Amex asked for bank letterhead..

This is most likely a verification. When I applied for the SPG Preferred, it stayed in "in process" status for several days. I called and was told it was a denial. I applied again the day after and that was approved within 24 hours. A few days later, I received a mail from AmEx requesting a letterhead from the bank to verify my signature. It was too late then. I was already approved for the 2nd app. Ignored their request and couple days later, I noticed in their application status website the 1st app has been cancelled. Have you tried to call them?

Re: Amex asked for bank letterhead..

Just got out of that process myself. Beware that sometimes their media department will reject your letterhead submission out of hand even though all of your information is there. It pays to call New Accounts just to see what notes were made on your app at the time. I got approved after the whole rigamarole, but not before it got sent back to underwriting for a final review. Address verification is a sort of pergatory with them. It doesn't mean you're in, it doesn't mean you're out.

Re: Amex asked for bank letterhead..

The status was "Need more info/send doc" or something like that.

Then I sent letterhead and stuff, but it got rejected. They said to send another one. Been having trouble getting the fax to them, it took 1 week to finally get the fax to them, then to find out they rejected the letterhead, so i sent it (the correct one). My fault I suppose.

Called them to make sure everything was okay now. They said they got my letterhead and they'll email me in 24 to 72 hours.

Then couple hours later it went back to "in progress".

I'm tired of calling them now. lol.

I call them almost everyday.

So just said I'm to wait for email from them at this point.

EDIT: Oh, yeah they rejected my letterhead before and told me to send another one. My app was on "need more info, send doc" or something like for couple days. then today went to in progress. that's when i called them and they said wait for their email.

Re: Amex asked for bank letterhead..

This just happened to me on my PRG and BCE. I submitted the documents and it was an approval. In my case, one of the agents was able to tell me that the credit decision was approved but they just needed to verify the info.

Good luck!

Re: Amex asked for bank letterhead..

Hi, gatorlover!

I had to get my banker to call them to verify info.

So waiting now.  Still pending on app status page.

This a good thing?

I think it's just verification. I'd wait then give them a call by Friday.  Let us know what's the outcome. With my first response I got the same thing. It's taking a risk because it'll be a HP again, but I reapplied after a week and got the approval. The app on 8/28 stayed in progress for a couple days, called in a got a denial from the CSR. The status never changed however. I thought I'd reapply again and got the approval within 24 hours when I applied on 9/6.
