Amex inquiries

So I know after becoming an Amex customer you can get additional accounts with no hard inquiries since you have history with them. I had the BCP when I applied for the green card through my account login and didn’t get a hard inquiry. But, do you have to apply for the new account through your Amex account login to avoid the inquiry? I was thinking of applying for the Platinum card through another credit card site to go for a higher sign up bonus but would like to avoid the inquiry if possible.

Re: Amex inquiries

It isn’t always 100% that they will approve you for a second/third/etc. card without a HP. As always, YMMV

I applied for my BCP through incognito for a higher bonus twice - was denied the first and approved the second - no HP for either but some get hit with HPs for all of their cards, even when they show as preapproved so just be aware of that.

Re: Amex inquiries

All 7 of my Amex cards were app using incognito mode for the higher SUB. Only the first card, I was hit with an Experian hard pull. There is a high chance that it will be a SP, but it is always YMMV.
