Couple of weeks ago a non-Amex merchant declined to accept one of my Amex cards, and the only other cc I had was an old low-interest USAA with no rewards at all. Having been on this site for 6 months I found that situation was...... intolerable! I jumped over to Navy and apped the Signature rewards card. Navy grabbed an HP from TU.
Now, in my case, TU has been lonesome territory for Amex. Just a couple of SP's in years. Well, when that Navy TU HP hit, the very next day, there was Amex with a SP of its own! Amex: "What's this? We better get over to TU and see what's goin' on with our guy, and do it quick!"
Does it say "Account Review" (AR) as SP descriptor?
Looks like AMEX did mine same day I had BBVA do a HP for a CLI this past Monday and yes, mine is under AR section.
Quite normal for them. It has been awhile for me but they have done it too me also so dont be alarmed they just want to see if there is a new account coming potentially and from who.
I looked again at the TU report and although it does show 5 SP from Amex, 4 were from 2019 & 2020, one is from April 2021. When I originally looked at it and started this thread, I had gotten the month's** confused. I got the Navy card *this* month. The SP last month was likely related to my apping for the Gold or Delta Res cards.
The SP's are in two sections: promotional and account review. The Amex pull is in the account review section, along with about a million other pulls. When I read "account review" from the upthread posts, my heart skipped several beats. But it looks like nothing special.
** grammatical question: months or month's?

Months; no apostrophe in this instance.
Amex will occasionally do ARs based on TU data (in addition to EX).
SP to check up on you wouldn't be marked as AR, however, if something out of the ordinary is detected, then there is no difference other than original intent.
I've had a couple on TU last year with absolutely no changes in utilization, no inquiries and no new accounts. They were done on the same date, three months apart. I believe auto increase in July was just a few weeks after first AR on TU.
