Amex is still not approving bk prior to 5yr mark filing date? (filed 6/7/14) I just checked page and it's showing a pre-qual card.
I just paid 60k+ debt, after holding 98% across all my cards for 3 years. Waiting for everything to report before I ask for CLI and or app for some cards. Scores at eq-627 TU - 645 and ex 618, AAoa 5years only 1-30 day late in last 5 years. I have 2 inq...and I haven't had a cli on
any card in over 3 years...basically I've been in the garden...with high usage across all my cards.
Besides the amex question... I'm looking for card and cli recommendations. Such as do I try cli across all my cards first, before taking 2 or 3 hard pulls for new cards, or trying the app process first. (of course if my scores move at least 50pts)
My cards as follow : NFCU x2 CL18k ea, NFCU LOC 10k, Cabela CL 2.6k, Cap qs1 CL 1.3k, Cap QS CL 2k, FirstPrem x2 CL 1.7k, Discover CL 1.1k, Secured USAA Amex 250CL, KohLS CL300, Overstock CL 4.3k, BP gas CL900, CheveronGAS CL 600, Jcrew CL 1k, Walmart 400CL, Amazon CL800. no car loan, no home loan.
I have a buisness, where I can easily spend 300k a month on credit card expense...this is one of the reasons I want to get more cards with limits, so I can take advantage of the cc rewards game.
Thank you in advance for any input or suggestions...this forums has been very helpful, the last 5 years.
Congrats on paying down debt.
Unfortunately, 5 years is nowhere near enough time for AmX to forgive, especially if they were IIB. They hold a grudge for a minimum of 10 years, and in a lot of cases, it can be as long as 15 yrs. Was AmX IIB? If yes, did you use some of $60K to repay them? In many cases, AmX will reconsider if the monies are paid back.
IMHO, the concern with getting high limit cards at this moment in time is that your profile has a lot of low limit cards, there are a lot of retail cards, and your scores are low.
If your across the board UT is higher than 8.9%, I suggest holding off on requesting CLIs until UT is in check.

Well for me I didn't get any Amex pre-quals until after 6 years post BK7 discharge, Amex not included in BK.
But, Amex pre-quals are among the most rock solid in the business. Which card is it showing you pre-qual'ed for? Revolving or Charge card? I was pre-qual'ed for Blue Cash Everyday but still waited a month or two before applying, instant approval w/$15k CL, EX Fico was just over 700 then.
I would wait the 5y, 1m mark. I haven’t seen any data of getting in earlier than that unless there was some type of deletion of BK on the credit report.
Its only a few more months.

That's a charge card, you must pay all charges monthly, as opposed to a revolving card that has a credit limit and you can pay over time with minimum payments.
That's a nice sign up bonus, standard SUB is 35,000 points. Those Membership Rewards points have the best value when redeemed for travel, do you travel by air often? If not a cash back card may be a better fit for you, especially with that $250 annual fee.
