It's better to pay off in full every month.
This^^^^^^^^^ I never carried a balance to gain 8500 in 1 day.
Thank you both. My last question(I think). If I transfer a balance over I can still keep that other card open right? Or does a balance transfer automatically close that account?

Yes, your card would remain open. A balance transfer would not close an account.
Thank you!

1. Never hesitate to ask a question, not in this forum. That's what we're all about.
2. No a balance transfer doesn't close the other account, it just shows up there as a payment.
@SSH0126 wrote:Oh boy! Something else added lol! I see what you mean. So these have preset credit limits. I heard that Amex will reduce your credit limit with heavy usuage. Is that true?
It's actually quite the opposite. If you show you are able to use it heavily and pay it off they will love you
Blue Cash Rewards approved for $2k. Lowest card limit

Congratulations on your approval. Don't worry about the limit. It's easy to get soft pull CLI's from Amex. In 91 days try for a $4k CLI and see what happens.
AMEX really seems to deal with people on an individual basis. Now I have had a long credit history with them. I have a Delta Reserve with a $40k credit line that I maxed out for an extended period I'm embarrassed to say. Paid it off then maxed it out a second time and paid it off. During that time AMEX placed my platinum card on a preset spending limit but they never lowered the limit on my Delta card. Once I returned to paying all my cards in full every month they finally returned my charge card to NPSL. They never reduced the credit line on the Delta card.

They typically are very stingy with the limit on the first card a person gets with them, but with responsible use, it can grow rather quickly.
There are a number of us on this forum that went from a starting limit of $1k to $27k in 9ish months this year.
