I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue with their card taking several weeks to arrive. I've contacted Amex twice and both times they've told me to wait (the first time they said it normally takes 7-10 days from the shipping date, the second time they clarified that to 7-10 business days.) Tomorrow is 10 business days since it shipped, so after I check the mail I'm going to contact them again.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Call AMEX and cancel card and request new one over night. They might overnight , they might not. Just a suggestion.
The only thing I'm afraid of is that the card arrives the day I do that.
Tomorrow after the mail arrives I'm going to make that call, though. And certainly the cancelled card will show up tuesday. ![]()
It may never show up. I had to request a new CC from WF due to fraud and the first one never came, even though they swore it was sent. The second one arrived after a week.
That's what I think has happened (or it got lost in the mail, etc.) I've never had any credit card, debit card, checks, etc. take this long to show up. 10-12 days, maybe, but 2-3 weeks is something that I've not seen. Makes me think at this point it will be lost forever. At least tomorrow when I call they should finally be willing to send me a replacement. :\
Sit-Rep:
I checked the mail, no card. Called Amex and they UPSed me a new one which should arrive tomorrow. There is tracking information available in the "replace lost/damaged card" portion of the site or via profile -> card management.
The first two times I contacted them was via online chat, and although it seems convenient I would recommend giving them a call instead if you find yourself in a similar situation. All three interactions with Amex to this point have been pleasant and issues are bound to happen occasionally. I would have liked a quicker resolution, but perhaps sometimes cards really do take 3 weeks to arrive. In any case, if you find yourself in a similar situation I would recommend calling on the tenth (business) day after it ships to have a replacement overnighted to you, or try before that, but YMMV. I will update again when I have the card in my hand, it is going from Nebraska to California.
This happened to a colleague...
AMEX swore up and down they mailed his card overnight. A week passed and he still hadn't received it. They again swore that they mailed it. Just in case, they issued a new card and re-shipped it.
Come to find out...they call him later that day and tell him his first card never left the mailroom. *facepalm*
Yeah, at this point I'm suspecting something like that. The average time for first class mail is 1-3 days, so 11 business days seems very unsual. There have been a lot of snow storms recently, but I don't know that Nebraska was particularly affected. My guess is I will never see that first card.
I'm still not showing any tracking info, so I don't know what to expect just yet, but I'd imagine the new one will be here late tomorrow.
This is my first Amex, so I was kind of jazzed about it. A little bit of the charm has been lost, but really I didn't get it as a toy, but as a financial tool, and within a few days I'm sure it will just be some plastic in my wallet like the rest of them anyway. ![]()
My BCE took about 8 days, and it felt like forever. My Venture one took 15 days I think, and it was super irritating.
