Looking for a mod to answer please

Is it no longer frowned upon in myFICOland to app for a credit card with frozen credit reports? Ive seen alot of posts now adays which suggest it is now "legal"

Meanie , its ok to app with frozen files though i wouldnt recommend it as your chances will be slim to none if they csnt access your file. Whats frowned upon is purposely freezing a specific bureau to force a lender to use another. There are those who do it but a creditor should have fair access to the report they need to extend credit we are seeking, in my humble opinion.

This appears to be commonplace these days.

Re: Apping with frozen files

Yes it does. The only reason i ever app lets say for Navy cli with my reports frozen is im going for sp cli, same as you might do with Discover. If you get automatically it was sp. However if i truely want the cli and they tell me they cant access my report, i should unfreeze or unlock the requested file. Ok, hope that helps, im not 100% sure if i've overstepped my bounds and dont want to encourage open discussion which would violate TOS.Thanks for understanding.

It is perfectly fine to discuss applying for credit with all your reports frozen.  What cannot be talked about is freezing one or two reports in order to try to force the creditor to pull a report of your choosing.  FICO considers that unethical and therefore a violation of MyFICO's Forums Terms of Service.  Hope this helps.
